Two years after the pandemic hit the Philippines, the Association of Market Research Operations Specialists, Inc. (AMOS) held its traditional Amos Talks entitled AMOS TALKS 4: Market Research and Beyond at the Novotel Function Hall last July 22.
The AMOS President, Ms. Nancy Silloco, welcomed the participants with commendation and call to remain steadfast amidst the crisis. Ms. Nancy Silloco is the President and CEO of Premise, Inc.
The whole-day conference was filled with inspirational, self-boosting excellent discussions. The keynote speaker, Ms. Issa Baron, President of the Marketing and Opinion Research Society of the Philippines (MORES) and owner of the GoodThinking Research discussed how to break new grounds to cope with global trends. She shared the significance of hiring young people to keep up in the constantly changing world. She also encouraged AMOS to come up with modern and creative ways on how to promote the market research operations to the public, which is also its data sources. She showed an example of companies using Tik-Tok to feature its employees and what they do. After her talk, the whole audience was surprised with a couple of videos of some researchers doing Tik-Tok in-between product test sessions and during research operations management fellowship.
Mr. Arun Gogna talked about the 4 Key Principles which will help thrive during times of crisis; it includes passion, perseverance, excellence, and shakedown.

President of Viviamo Inc. and creator of Belle de Jour Power Planner, Ms. Darlyn Ty-Nilo, headed the #YouGotThisPH: The Philippines’ First Planning and Journaling Summit. At the height pandemic, they have created many support communities and online coaching platforms as her company aims to help the disempowered to become dream powered.
A market research expert, Mr. Alex Damaso, advised the market researchers to always be prepared for a possible course of action to keep abreast of industry trends since change is inevitable. Some topics to be observed are the loopholes of current panel providers, expanding client reach, the advantages of forming a panel, and emerging data gathering techniques.
AMOS talks also served as a platform to learn stress management through MSME Business Succession Coach and Business Consultant Ms. Aiet Dela Torre. She discussed the importance of building a secure work environment and including stress reduction habits in the daily workflow. She pointed out that doing so would help counter the effects of stress among employees.
Concluding the event, the MarketMatters Inc. CEO and AMOS Vice-President, Ms. Noreen Acaylar, reminded the participants to endure and learn to seek opportunities amidst this challenging time. She hopes that AMOS Talks 4 reminds everyone of being overcomers.
